School days

 I am trying something new for the new year. I always am looking for ways to improve our school day. I put together about 100 different centers for the kids to do for a 20 minute break in the middle of their day. They get to do one center a day. Here Isaiah is making a dominoes road and Adriana is doing a puzzle.

This is the new system I'm trying. It is called the file crate system. It took me awhile to put together, but is nice because I have my lesson plans wrote out for the rest of the year. As you can see I'm starting at week 19. I will have to add 1-18 next year.

These are the boxes the kids keep all of their books in. I started a portfolio for each kid to keep 2 of their best pieces of work in each week. They were really excited about this, because it allows them to see how much they have completed and how much they have learned.  

I am also hoping this new system will make them want to do their best each day, because it might go in their portfolio.

So far so good!!

I have awesome kids. One day last week I was busy and I came into the kitchen at lunchtime and saw this. WOW! They worked together and made their own lunch and also put all of the stuff away. I gave lots of points away for that!! I am soooo proud of them. I love being their Mom!! At least I can say that for today.
